JEDI Statement
At EcoCiv, we are dedicated to actively pursuing Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) for the well-being of our staff, beneficiaries, and community. We intentionally foster a supportive work environment where every team member’s voice is valued and their active participation is encouraged. We take collective responsibility in creating an inclusive, respectful, and safe space where everyone can bring their whole selves to the organization. We celebrate people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences; appreciating our shared humanity while embracing our unique differences.
Through ongoing commitment and collaboration we will…
-
- Empower the voices and rights of the marginalized and disenfranchised.
-
- Uplift the lived experiences of diverse communities with respect and honor.
-
- Provide equitable access to opportunities for all.
-
- Transform systems to promote fairness and equity.
These interwoven JEDI principles reinforce each other, providing a clear framework for mindful practices among EcoCiv staff, beneficiaries, and community. Together, we commit to creating a more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive world.
Land Acknowledgement
As a San Diego registered 501(c)(3), EcoCiv humbly acknowledges and pays our deepest respects to the Kumeyaay Nation, the original and enduring stewards of this land. For millennia, the Kumeyaay people have thrived in this region, enriching it with their cultural traditions and harmony with the natural world. Their traditional lifeways, intertwined with a sacred worldview that connects earth and sky, embody a profound sense of community among all living beings.
EcoCiv is guided by this ancient wisdom, as we pursue our goals of knowledge and understanding. We draw inspiration from the Kumeyaay spirit, opening our minds and hearts to the teachings of this land.
As a remote organization, EcoCiv acknowledges all the traditional and unceded territories occupied by its staff. We extend our utmost reverence and gratitude to the Indigenous people who have lived on and cared for this land since time immemorial. They are the original caretakers and conservationists, and we honor their continued legacy of understanding, caretaking, and upholding the pillars of biodiversity.
EcoCiv remains committed to forging authentic partnerships and collaborations with Indigenous communities across all territories, in our shared journey towards a sustainable and harmonious future.
