As the current world order unravels, there is a critical need to cohere and amplify the forces for a life-affirming global transformation.
Responding to this need, the Ecocivilization Coalition intends to act as a focused transformation catalyst, fostering an organizing narrative and facilitating system-wide intervention to midwife the emergence of a life-affirming planetary civilization out of the deteriorating chaos of our times.

The “Overton window” defines the set of ideas considered acceptable to mainstream political discourse. The Coalition will work to shift the Overton window toward ideas that could lead to an Ecocivilization but are currently outside the mainstream conversation. Rather than impose its own concepts, the Coalition will act in service of the existing life-affirming concepts and frames that movements already use to support their work, and work to help weave them into a comprehensive alternative narrative available for mainstream adoption. This alternative narrative will not be limited to policy and societal issues but invite shifts in the dominant worldview, promoting a shift away from individualism, reductionism, and human supremacy, to a more relational ontology of interbeing.

Visionary groups and institutions are already working for transformative change in virtually every aspect of society. The Coalition will seek out, connect, and support these organizations in each main domain of society. Acting as a kind of connective tissue, the Coalition will partner with those willing and able to play a global role in amplifying, catalyzing, and connecting at each level of scale. It will facilitate skillful interventions by these groups in systems of power and governance, at different levels ranging from community, bioregion, nation-state, and international.
AUGMENT
ISLANDS OF COHERENCE

“Islands of coherence” (IoCs) are grassroots movements and community initiatives that prefigure a life-affirming future. They already exist throughout the world, laying down pathways toward a transformed world. The Coalition will identify and offer support to leading IoCs in each societal domain, helping them identify their most pressing needs and funneling appropriate resources to them, while fostering a "fractal scaling” of best practices for planet-wide adoption, encouraging each entity to apply common principles while remaining unique to its particular locality and community.

COALITION STRUCTURE
A Working Group was formed in 2024. The Coalition is currently cohering and developing a partner network, and intends to begin full implementation in 2026.
